Classics and Classical Languages

" The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one
that heralds new discoveries, is not ‘Eureka! I have
found it’ but rather ‘That’s funny... "
-Isaac Asimov

The learning of classical languages is essentially divergent from that of modern languages, which focus upon listening and speaking with fluency. While Classical languages focus on the structure of language, it fosters precision in the development of vocabulary and provides valuable insight into the structure of the English language.

pictureWe accept that the study of Greek and Latin offers exceptional rewards in the improvement of linguistic skills and fosters new culture perspectives. Greek and Latin form the foundation for modern languages. They can be highly beneficial in understanding languages.

Classical studies sharpen intellectual discipline. They unlock our awareness into a wide range of academic pursuits.

In addition, the study of classical languages allows children to study the cultures of Rome and Greece, from which we have inherited much of our literature, philosophy, history, government, and thinking in the fields of science and mathematics.

Classical studies form the connective gateway to explore the classical world. They bridge today with a past of proud traditions and extraordinary accomplishments.
